Cory J. Alexander, M.D.
Cory J. Alexander joined Shodair Children's Hospital medical staff in 2011. She treats patients on the hospital's Grasslands Unit (Acute Care) as well as on its High Desert Unit (Children's Unit).
A native of Pittsburgh, Dr. Alexander received her undergraduate degrees in chemistry and math from Union College at Schenectady, New York. She went on to earn her medical degree from Penn State University's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 1986.
After completing medical school, Dr. Alexander moved to Colorado, where she completed three residency programs, the first in general psychiatry at the University of Colorado at Denver. This was followed by forensic psychiatry training at Colorado State Hospital at Pueblo, and lastly, a child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Colorado at Denver. Dr. Alexander is board certified in general psychiatry as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. Prior to working at Shodair Children's Hospital, Dr. Alexander was in private practice for nearly 16 years in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Dr. Alexander is particularly interested in the treatment of mood and eating disorders, as well as the assessment and treatment of autistic disorders.
