Ben Egbers is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for Shodair Outpatient Services in the Bozeman clinic. He initially began his career in mental health after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and German in 2000 from Western Washington University and subsequently worked as a mental health case manager in the public mental health arena for three years. After taking a few years off for various adventures (including living in Germany for a year as an English teacher) and working in different sectors outside of healthcare, he returned to academia and earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011 from Washington State University. Throughout his nursing career, he found that his most memorable experiences with patients were those conversations about their emotional struggles and promoting mental health, which prompted him to pursue psychiatric nursing roles in residential and inpatient settings, with both adolescent and adult populations. In 2018, he began pursuing his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Washington, where he completed his clinical training, graduating in March 2021. Ben was awarded board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in April 2021 and started his career with Shodair in June 2021. He is thrilled to be serving as a psychiatric provider with Shodair, given their commitment to serving kids and families all across Montana. When he is not in the clinic, he can be found exploring the trails and mountains of Montana, pursuing his passions of rock/mountain climbing, cycling, or hiking.
