Shodair Children's Hospital participates in most State and Federal insurance programs including Medicare, Medicaid (MT, WY, ID), Healthy Montana Kids (HMK) and Tricare.
Medicaid – A program administered by the State for persons and families with income levels near the federal poverty level. For inpatient and residential psychiatric services, there are no co-pays or deductibles.
Healthy Montana Kids – The Children’s Health Insurance Program is a State- sponsored program currently administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana. The program is designed to cover children of working families with incomes too high to qualify for Medicaid and too low to afford health insurance. For inpatient and residential psychiatric services, there is no deductible but a small co-pay of $25.

Shodair Children's Hospital realizes the cost of medical genetic services care can create a financial hardship; we have developed a financial assistance program offering discounts on charges based on a family's or individual's income and asset level.
Shodair Children's Hospital contracts with most commercial insurance companies in Montana, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana, Federal Blue Cross, New West, Allegiance, and United Healthcare. Shodair also participates in many health care networks through which insurance companies outside of Montana contract for services.
Commercial health plans may have co-pays and deductibles that apply to the services provided.
Some insurance companies may consider certain types of genetic testing as experimental or investigative and exclude these tests from coverage. It is important to contact your health plan to determine the coverage of genetic testing and any requirements for prior authorization.
If you are not covered or eligible for government-sponsored programs or not covered by commercial insurance, the charges for services become your responsibility. Shodair Children's Hospital realizes the cost of medical genetic services care can create a financial hardship; we have developed a financial assistance program offering discounts on charges based on a family's or individual's income and asset level.
The program is called ShoCare and is designed to assist families or individuals without health insurance or with high deductible health insurance plans. Shodair Children's Hospital offers contracted lab testing services to other health care and research providers including hospitals, universities and physician practices.
The provider (client) will receive a monthly statement with patient details for each test ordered during the month. Terms are net 30 days from the date of invoice.
