When we set out to build a new 134,000 square foot hospital building, the biggest project in Shodair’s history, we were never under the illusion that we could do it on our own. But, we were sure of two things. One – despite how bold, this was a project that Montana children deserved. And, two – Shodair has always been a community surrounded by a family of friends, partners, employees, neighbors, and advocates who when called upon, love to show up. And, can we just say how true that’s been!
Since launching our Hope Takes Flight campaign in May of 2021, with the help of generous donors from across the region, we have raised a total of $11.5 million – just $2.5 million shy of our set fundraising goal. And, we’re not done yet! With 90% of funds staying right here in Montana and 99% of patients coming from within our state, we are dedicated to serving even more children in the new year. And with your help, we know we can.
“The support for our building project has been overwhelmingly positive. We are grateful for all of those who have given not just in the last few years, but throughout the lifetime of Shodair. Our team is passionate about creating a healthy and hopeful Montana, and it’s been rewarding to see that passion met out in the community as well.”
With every gift bringing us closer to our goal, we are excited to highlight a recent and longtime donor to the Pacific Northwest – the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. Dedicated to empowering and supporting the growth of community-focused organizations, the Murdock Trust continued its investment in Montana’s health with a $1.5 million grant to Shodair.
“Our benefactor, Jack Murdock, understood the importance of investing in mental health and wellbeing to help ensure that all individuals can flourish, and communities can thrive. Organizations like Shodair Children’s Hospital are doing such important work to bring world-class care to patients and their families through thoughtful design. We are grateful for their commitment to serve the needs of Montana and we are proud to play a small role in bringing this incredible facility to life.”
While an important partnership, the Murdock Trust represents just one of hundreds of other individuals, corporations, and foundations that have supported Shodair throughout the years. Whether it be through time, money, or effort, our legacy has always been rooted in the Montana community and we will continue to thrive because of your generous support. The children we serve deserve a better Montana, and thanks to you, we can help provide it.
From genetics to youth psychiatric care, Shodair is building hope for Montana families, and you can help! While our new hospital is almost complete, there’s still work to be done – $2.4 million to be exact. Join our mission to heal, help, and inspire hope by giving to our building project, Hope Takes Flight, today!
